School Safety Plan
Our children’s safety at school is a number one priority in these times; setting up a school safety plan is crucial. There are many ways to help secure a school, but rarely do people think about the glass. Architects are currently specifying certain types of safety glass to prevent break-ins, but none of them are 100% reliable. A few companies including ourselves have been testing several types of windows with and without safety film installed. The glass with safety film always outperforms glass without safety film. In fact, after the terrible Sandy Hook shootings, some findings in the final report suggest several options for increased safety, including safety film (Pg 54, see attachment).

Dark Cornering
Dark Cornering Film is also an excellent option. A window with a film using dark cornering technology essentially blocks the view of a person from one side of the room. If you’re walking down a hallway, you can see into a certain portion of the room via the glass; however, with a dark corner film applied, that view is reduced, providing cover for students, teachers, and staff in the event of an active shooter.
